World map render

Working on the world map render. I’m finished with some of the city tiles and I’v added markers for “alliance, enemy and neutral”, Also you will see the shield that gives some extra protection for your city. Both the shield and markers are animated.

Here is a screenshot.

The next thing I will be adding is the grass slopes and mud tiles so it will look something like this when theres just a few cities on the map.

I’m using a class for FPS and memory stats that you see on a few of my screenshots (The first screen in this post for example), if you want to try it out you can get it here http://code.google.com/p/mrdoob/wiki/stats

Explosion sounds

I didn’t have that much time to work on this today, but i bought some more sounds. Seven different explosion sounds thats now included in the game and plays when I send bombs on the city.

My todo list the coming weeks (in no special order):

  1. Pixel the world map cities and city effects such as showing if the city is your enemy, neutral or alliance
  2. Fix so you can see other players on the world map, and add a simple user registration page
  3. Start to test the attack system (sending bombs on other players)
  4. Add oil, cash and other stuff to the player
  5. Make different types of attacks
  6. Add upgrade options to the advanced buildings
  7. Finish “Messages”, “Attacks”, “Defence”, “Alliance”, “Friends” and “VIP” in the top gui
  8. Work on the right gui (Building menu, show resources etc)

When this is done I will open the game for its first beta version.

No images or anything this time, maybe the most boring post this far :)

Today, gui and sound update

Today I’v worked on the bottom gui, now its two slides that controls both the background music and the sound effects in the game. The left one is for the effects and the right one is for the music.

I’v also changed the gui font to “PF Tempesta Seven”, a nice clean pixel font.

If your in need of fonts you should check out Dafont.com there you will find lots of fonts, and some even with free licence.

The sound effects I’m using I bought from Soundrangers.com, they have every sound you need with great quality. Though every sound costs like $2, even a little click sound :)

Gui and pixel progress

Hi,

I’m still working on this as much as I can, the pixeling takes way more time then I thought. As I said, there wont be any more demos until the beta versions. But here is a video though, unfortunately the quality kinda sucks and there is no sound.

The updates iv made since the last post is,

1, A lot more pixel buildings (nyomythus asked how i make them and the answer is pixel by pixel :) )

2, Added support for 2x2 and 3x3 tiles.

3, Fixed so that when you build stuff buildings in front of the mouse will be transparent, and if they turn red you cant build there.

4, I’v made a lot of progress on the GUI, the top part is almost finished now

5, You can now switch between your city and the world map

6, I bought some nice sound effects that works good with the design.

7, Started a car system, but is kind of buggy at this moment.

And some other more boring stuff as fixes and such.
